What once stood her was a rundown 1980 yellow and brown ranch style house, until October 2018 when the property where Le Chacuel now stands was purchased by Mila Morris. Since then, their special space in the California Mojave desert has become a peaceful refuge for people seeking a stylish escape from the city.

Morris’s vision for Le Chacuel was a space influenced only by the desert and old-world desert living. Everything has been intentionally set in the home to sit lower, closer to the earth. Morris designed the pool to be partially subgrade and partially above grade and use the elevated walls of the pool to prevent the elements of nature from getting into the pool. Almost everything has been hand-made custom for this space and much of the furniture you’ll experience throughout the property was Cast & Crew designed and built. The design of the house is accordingly minimal, relying on the beauty of its surroundings. The colors of the house are muted to match the shades of sand and the dirt road that stretches outside. The living room’s large sliding glass doors make guests feel immersed in nature.

A REFUGE IN SAND

THE CONCEPT

If you have children or babies - never leave them unattended as there is both a pool and a hot tub - both of which a child could drown in if not supervised.

During the cold seasons, heating the pool will attract an extra fee of $300 per night.

You'll need a car to explore the area fully – there's onsite parking for up to 8 vehicles.

The fridge in the house is a small fridge and freezer and there's an additional fridge in the studio. Please ask if you need more food storage space.

The detached bedroom has no air conditioning – it's supplied with a fan and space heater for colder months.

The neighbors are sensitive to noise and lights after 10 PM.

All photoshoots must be approved beforehand. We have a separate fee for photoshoots, events, etc.

Le Chacuel is a compound in the middle of desert nature, so if you find insects or animals, do not be scared, it's part of the experience, and if any enter the house, just tell our staff and we can help remove them from the house.

Please be kind to the home. All things were selected by many places around the world, and they're very difficult to replace, please treat her like your own home. Please don't take anything at the end of your stay, we've acquired everything from our travel and adventures and we want it to stay that way for the next guests.

Le Chacuel welcomes you with the essentials, and some extras, we leave guests shampoo, conditioner, soap, towels, the essentials, and basics to cook, and the drinking water is filtered, as is all the hot water throughout the house.

A studio with a queen bed, king bed, kitchen, and outdoor bathroom, and two bell tents with super king beds can be made available at an additional cost.
